Lodging in Zion National Park

There are some really cool places to stay right in Zion National Park and in the communities around the park. Zion National Park visitors often choose to spend the night in the park itself, Springdale, St. George, Hurricane, Mt. Carmel Junction, Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort, and the East Zion area. Accommodations range from tent camping, RV, cabins, vacation home rentals, Conestoga wagons, tiny homes, hotel, motels, and more. Below is an overview of the surrounding communities and their accommodation options

Zion Ponderosa

Zion National Park

Within Zion National Park there are a few overnight accommodation choices which range from typical room lodging, rv, trailer and tent camping. There are three campgrounds in the park as well as one lodge. None of the three campgrounds offer shower or laundry facilities.

Zion Lodge: The Zion Lodge is right in the middle of all the action of Zion National Park's Main Canyon. Zion Lodge has cabins, rooms, suites,  two dining options, and some of the best views to be had.

Zion Canyon Campground and RV Resort: This campground is located right next to the Visitor Center and is open year-round. This campground features primitive tent sites and RV sites with electricity, water, and sewage hookups.

Watchman Campground: Open year-round and a quarter of a mile from the South Entrance of the park. Sites have electric and water hookups; there is running water available and bathroom facilities in the campground.

South Campground: A seasonal campground a half mile from the South Entrance. No water hookups are available at sites, but sites do have a fire pit, and bathroom facilities are available with running water.

Lava Point Campground: A seasonal primitive site campground, about 1 hour 20 minutes from the South Entrance.

East Zion

East Zion, frequently called the "quiet side" of Zion, is an up-and-coming area next to Zion National Park. It truly does boast some of the most unique and incredible options for lodging, from the renowned Zion Mountain Ranch to Zion Ponderosa. Zion Ponderosa Ranch Resort offers so many activities and adventures as well as a broad spectrum of lodging options: tent camping, RV site, cabins, Conestoga wagons, tiny homes, large vacation rentals, and yurts.

Mount Carmel Junction lies 13 miles from the East Entrance to Zion National Park and provides rooms at 89 and Nine, Thunderbird Lodge, Arrowhead Country Inn and Cabins, or Mt. Carmel Motel and RV Park.

Farther up Highway 89, there's a town called Orderville, which has some really fun overnight accommodations, like a treehouse for example. Stay at The Escape to East Zion or East Zion Resort.

St. George

St. George is a favorite among visitors to Zion National Park for a wide variety of accommodations options as well as guides, outfitters, supplies, food, and more. Saint George is an hour drive from the South Entrance of the park. See lodging in St. George for more information.

Springdale

Springdale is a nice place to stay if you are visiting Zion National Park. Springdale borders the south entrance and offers a shuttle program into the park. This community is hopping, with various places to stay: hotels, motels, inns, bed and breakfasts, and campgrounds. Springdale gives great access to the park, and many of these accommodations offer wonderful views of the red rock formations that surround it. See the page on Springdale lodging for more details.

Virgin

North of Springdale, Virgin is a community with some other desirable lodging opportunities. The atmosphere of lodging in Virgin might be a little more laid back than Springdale, yet still offers a proximity that makes staying in Virgin well worth consideration. Types of accommodations available include hotel, motel, cabin, and vacation rentals.

La Verkin

The small community of La Verkin is just off I-15 and 30 minutes from the South Entrance of Zion National Park. This town offers a more peaceful setting for visitors, yet still well within an easy commute to a park. You'll find affordable hotels and motels in La Verkin.

Hurricane

Hurricane is just off I-15 and barely more than 30 minutes from the South Entrance of Zion National Park. It's a lively community with an array of good accommodations available in hotels, motels, RV sites, camping, and vacation rentals. Hurricane offers accessibility not only to Zion National Park but several other attractions nearby, such as Sand Hollow, Snow Canyon, and Quail Creek State Parks.

Kanab

Kanab lies east of Zion National Park and south of Mount Carmel Junction. Kanab is also touted as being in proximity to several national parks and scenic areas. While Kanab is relatively close to Zion, it is a 45-minute drive to the East Entrance of Zion National Park. This centralized location makes Kanab an ideal place to stay and features countless choices of hotels, motels, vacation rentals, camping, RV sites, and bed and breakfasts. Many visiting Kanab come from the Grand Canyon or Horseshoe Bend, perhaps on their way to Zion or Bryce. They may also want to take a minute to see one of the many unique features of this area, which include Coral Pink Sand Dunes, slot canyons, Belly of the Dragon, Moqui Cave, and The Sand Caves.
