History

The University of Utah (U of U/The U) is a top-tier research university located in Salt Lake City and was founded in 1850. The U is the state's oldest institution of higher learning and has a very rich history that reflects the growth and development of the state.
Over the years, the U of U has grown from a small liberal arts college to a comprehensive research institution with over 31,000 students and 250 degree programs and is a member of the Association of American Universities, a prestigious group of top research universities in the United States.

Sports Programs

The University of Utah is home to a number of successful athletic programs, including but not limited to football, basketball, and skiing. The U of U's football team has made numerous bowl game appearances and has won the conference championship multiple times. The basketball team has had multiple NCAA tournament appearances and many from the ski program have gone on to compete in the Olympics.f
