Park City, Utah is a premier destination for year-round outdoor recreation. Nestled in the Wasatch Mountains and just 40 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport, Park City is a mecca for skiing and snowboarding during the winter months and world-class mountain biking, golfing, hiking, camping, fishing and more during the summer.

Park City got its start as a mining town in 1868 and today is a hotspot for tourists from all over the world. Park City is known for its world famous snow, refreshing summer adventure, incredible winter scene, and the hosting of the Sundance Film Festival. Located on the backside of the Wasatch Mountain range, Park City has hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics, and offers world class skiing and snowboarding. Park City offers exhilarating outdoor activities all year round. In the summer, the trails of Park City are filled with hikers, runners, mountain bikers, and even some horseback riding.

History

Park City was established in 1868 when silver and lead were discovered in the area. It quickly grew into a bustling mining town, and by 1900 it had over 8,000 inhabitants. In the early 1930s, skiing became popular in Park City and resorts such as Deer Valley Resort were founded. The city has since become one of the most popular ski resort destinations in Utah, and in the United States, hosting the 2002 Winter Olympics and multiple major annual winter sports events.

Places of interest

The Uintas

The Uintas are the highest mountain range in Utah, located east of Park City. With peaks that reach up to 13,500 ft and vast valleys, this area provides plenty of opportunities for adventurers to explore nature. Hiking trails meander through the forest and alpine lakes provide a perfect place for activities such as fishing, hiking and picnicking. During the winter when the Unitas receive a great deal of snow, activities like snowboarding, skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing are the perfect activities to take part in.

Utah Olympic park

The Utah Olympic Park is an incredible place to visit and experience the history of the 2002 Winter Olympics. The park offers a variety of activities, including ski jumping, luge, bobsleigh, skeleton and more. You can even take a guided tour through the facility and watch athletes practice in preparation for upcoming events.

Alpine Slides | Coaster

If you’re looking for a thrilling ride, look no further than Alpine Slides and Coaster at Park City Mountain Resort. This luge-style track takes riders through hairpin turns and is suitable for all ages. They are perfect for getting that adrenaline rush and experiencing the scenery and views that Park City has to offer.

Ski Resorts

Park City is home to some of the best ski resorts in the country. With over 8,000 acres of terrain and multiple terrain parks, Park City is ideal for all levels of skiers and snowboarders. The famous Deer Valley Resort, which hosted competitions during the 2002 Winter Olympics, offers groomed trails and unparalleled views. Woodward action sport campus is just outside of Park City and has a variety of winter sport activities that include skiing and snowboarding. And if you’re looking for a bit of excitement, the Park City Mountain Resort is home to one of the largest terrain parks in North America.

Deer Valley Resort
Deer Valley boasts some of the best skiing in the state, over 100 runs and 20 lifts. Summer at Deer Valley boasts hiking, mountain biking, scenic chair lifts, concerts, and festivals.

Park City Mountain Resort

Woodward
Woodward action sport campus is just outside of Park City. Woodward hosts a variety of winter sport activities as well as many for the summer. Winter activities include skiing and snowboarding. In the summer guests can enjoy skateboarding, scootering, BMX riding, mountain biking, parkour, and more.
