Kayenta Trail

The Kayenta Trail is a .8 mile long trail that connects with many other trails in the park for a great create your own adventure. 

The Kayenta Trail begins across the bridge from the Grotto Picnic Area and follows along the Virgin River as it loops in and out of Heaps Canyon along the west wall of Zion Canyon. This pleasant trail provides panoramic views of the surrounding Zion Canyon, the river, and eventually connects with the Emerald Pools Trails where many trail variations become available.  

From the end of the Kayenta Trail you can continue onto the Upper Emerald Pool Trail. It is .3 miles up to the Upper Emerald Pool and .3 miles back where you can choose to return on the Kayenta Trail the way you came or connect with the Lower and Middle Pool Trails and end up across from the Zion Lodge and shuttle stop #5.

Preparing for The Kayenta Trail

There are long drop-offs along the trail to be aware of. It is important to bring enough water and the proper protection from the sun as you hike.
