History
Richfield was established in 1864 by a group of settlers from nearby Salina, Utah. The land had been taken in the Mexican Cession and belonged to the Sanpete Valley. The town was incorporated the following year and named after Richfield Creek which runs through it. In its early history, Richfield served as an important stop on the Pony Express route.
Throughout the twentieth century, Richfield served as an agricultural and livestock center. Today, it is a popular southern Utah tourist destination due to its beautiful scenery and many outdoor activities.
