1,200 Acres of Powder Heaven

Solitude Ski Resort

Features a charming European-esque pedestrian village.

Solitude Ski Resort is a winter paradise for snow enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers. Located in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah, Solitude Ski Resort boasts some of the best skiing in the country with over 2,000 acres of terrain that include everything from groomed runs to steep chutes and powder-filled bowls. The resort offers an incredible variety of terrain for all levels of skiers and snowboarders, making it a great destination for friends and families looking to ski together.

The Solitude Ski Resort was once very aptly named, considering it was known to be fairly uncrowded and full of fresh powder. However, thanks to its new accessibility to Ikon Pass, Gold Pass, Yeti Pass, Ski City Super Pass, and Ski Utah Passport holders, Solitude is no longer forgotten or unfrequented.

Solitude’s 2,000 acres get an average of 500 inches of snowfall annually. There are nine chair lifts (four being detachable quad chair lifts) accessing 80 runs fit for all ability levels. With an elevation ranging from 7,994 ft to 10,488 ft, Solitude has a vertical drop of 2,494 ft.

Overview

The Solitude Ski Resort is home to eight different chairlifts that access over 74 trails. There are also several terrain parks scattered throughout the mountain, offering up plenty of options for everyone from beginners to experts. The resort also has over 20 miles of groomed cross-country trails, a tubing park, and an impressive snowmaking system that helps to ensure consistent winter conditions throughout the season.

The Solitude Ski Resort features a small pedestrian village that was designed to mimic a European ski village. This village is home to the elegant Inn at Solitude, which houses 46 rooms that are located right next to the village bridge and equipped with ski-in and ski-out convenience. The Inn also offers fine dining options at St. Bernard’s (French-American cuisine), a day spa, and a pool. If you would rather stay in a condo or studio, those options are available as well.

If you’re looking for a combination of upscale and casual fare, The Honeycomb Grill is a terrific option, and Stone Haus Pizzeria & Creamery is ideal for grabbing a slice of pizza. For a truly unique dining experience, you can strap on your snow shoes and wander down to Solitude’s Yurt, where the chef will craft you a 5-course meal (for which, as you can probably imagine, reservations are essential).

If you’re looking for some decent aprés-ski bars, Solitude has a few good options. The resort’s main pub is The Thirsty Squirrel, though Argenta Pub in the Moonbeam Day Lodge is another good choice, and the Library Bar at the Inn boasts an intimate, sophisticated selection.
