History
The origins of Las Vegas can be traced back to the pioneers who first settled in the state of Utah. However, it wasn't until 1905 that Las Vegas was formally founded, and in 1911 it became an incorporated city. The real growth of Las Vegas began in 1931 with the start of the Hoover Dam construction, which attracted many young male workers to the area. Interestingly, the Mafia played a significant role in building theaters and casinos for these workers. But it was in 1966 that Las Vegas transformed into a more family-friendly luxury vacation destination, thanks to the influence of Howard Hughes, the wealthiest person in America at that time.
