Anasazi State Park

One of the best locations for Native American artifacts.

Anasazi State Park is a beautiful park located in Boulder, Utah. It is an ideal spot for exploration of ancient Native American history. The park was created to preserve the remains of an Anasazi Indian village that flourished during the 11th century. Visitors can explore the ruins of a great house complex, and look out over magnificent views of the surrounding area.

geology

The region surrounding Anasazi State Park is also a great destination for geology enthusiasts. The area contains some of the oldest rock formations in the Grand Staircase Escalante Monument and visitors can explore these incredible geological structures.

history

The park is situated on a plateau near the Colorado River and has been protected by its elevation since its first inhabitants over 1,000 years ago. The ruins of this ancient Native American village are well preserved and visitors can explore to learn more about these people who were among the first settlers in this region. The structures of the pueblo were built from sandstone and mortar and consisted of two large courtyards with surrounding rooms, as well as an additional structure near the entrance.

The inhabitants of this village are thought to have been members of the Anasazi people, who were renowned for their craftsmanship and cultural achievements. They built homes out of stone, clay, wood, and dry grasses and hunted deer in the nearby areas for food. The village was abandoned sometime around 1200 AD when the water supplies dwindled and the people moved on to other areas.
