Weber State University

Weber State University (WSU) is a public university in Ogden, Utah. Founded in 1889 as Weber Stake Academy, it is now the state's longest-serving state-sponsored institution of higher education, making it one of Utah’s oldest universities. WSU offers more than 300 undergraduate and graduate degrees through six colleges, including the College of Business, Education, and Social & Behavioral Sciences.

History

WSU was founded as Weber Stake Academy in 1889 by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). The school was originally a two-year college but later became a four-year institution. In 1933, the LDS church granted WSU university status and changed its name to Weber College.

In 1962, the state of Utah passed legislation to make Weber College an independent public university. The school was then renamed Weber State University, and its name has remained the same ever since.

Today, WSU is a thriving university with almost 25,000 students enrolled from all fifty states and over 118 countries around the world. It is home to six colleges that offer more than 300 unique degree programs.
