The Tabernacle Choir

The Tabernacle Choir, also known as The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, is one of the most iconic choirs in America. Founded in 1847, it has been a source of inspiration and joy for more than 170 years. The choir consists of 360 volunteer members from across the United States and performs concerts, recordings and broadcasts in many different venues, as well as performing for the President of the United States whenever requested.

The Tabernacle Choir is internationally recognized for its unique sound and repertoire that includes traditional classical masterworks, spirituals, popular songs, folk hymns and patriotic anthems. Their signature sound was created by combining a semi-professional choir with outstanding soloists, an orchestra and an organ. The choir has performed for millions of people around the world including performances in New York City’s Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall in London.

The Tabernacle Choir’s repertoire is diverse and eclectic, ranging from classical to contemporary music. It has regularly released recordings under the Mormon Tabernacle Choir label and has won three Grammy Awards. The choir also performs in concerts worldwide and collaborates with numerous international artists and organizations.

The Tabernacle Choir is more than just a choir though; it’s an institution of faith, tradition, history and music appreciation. In addition to its performances, it also has educational activities for its members and patrons, including lectures on music history, interactive workshops and special events. The choir is also dedicated to preserving the musical heritage of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through its extensive library of sacred music.
