History
The history of the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum is incredibly fascinating. The museum was founded in 1945 as a way to preserve and promote the rich natural history of this region. Over the years, it has grown to become one of Utah’s premier museums, with over 45,000 visitors annually. Funding for the museum was made available in 1946 and then the museum was opened in 1948. In 1959, it was established as one of Utah's state parks.
Exterior
The exterior of the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum is quite impressive. The museum is housed in a two-story building that was built in log and stone in order to reflect the local area’s history and culture. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, featuring native plants and trees and offering visitors plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities and life-sized versions of the dinosaurs that could be found in Utah millions of years ago.
Interior
Inside the Utah Field House of Natural History State Park Museum, visitors can explore an array of incredible exhibits. From fossil skeletons to interactive activities and educational displays, there is something for everyone here. One popular exhibit is the Geology Gallery, which features rocks, minerals, and fossils from across the region and offers insight into geological processes that helped shape this area. The Paleontology Gallery is also a must-visit, showcasing the region’s incredible dinosaur fossils. Visitors can get up close to these ancient creatures and learn about how life was in this region millions of years ago.
