Wildlife in Camp Floyd/Stagecoach Inn State Park

Camp Floyd State Park is a scenic park located in the small town of Fairfield, Utah. Coyotes have a grayish-brown coat with a white underside, and these animals generally avoid contact with humans. However, it's important to keep your distance if you come across one during your visit, as they have been known to attack humans in some cases. Management, it has since been transferred to Utah State Parks and Recreation. Visitors to the park can explore a series of interpretive trails that lead through the remaining ruins. Other activities available in the park include camping, picnicking, fishing, hunting and wildlife watching.

Hawks are common visitors to Camp Floyd State Park, and several species can be seen flying overhead. Look for the distinctive silhouette of red-tailed hawks, Cooper's hawks, and northern goshawks soaring gracefully through the sky. These birds of prey have excellent eyesight, allowing them to spot their small prey from far above! Bald eagles are also common in the park, particularly during winter.

Camp Floyd State Park is home to a variety of falcon species. Look for the small but agile American kestrels, which hunt for rodents and insects in the park's tall grasses.
