Great Salt Lake Itinerary

One Day Itinerary

Here is a one day itinerary for experiencing the Great Salt Lake:
Start the day visiting Antelope Island State Park, one of 15 islands of the Great Salt Lake. The park is about 30 miles northwest of Salt Lake City and can be reached by taking I-15 North and exiting onto Antelope Drive.

When you arrive at the park, enjoy a leisurely hike along one of the trails to get a feel for the island's unique landscape and wildlife such as the herd of American Bison who live there. Be sure to bring a camera, as the views of the lake and surrounding mountains are breathtaking. After your hike, grab a bite to eat at the park's visitor center, which has a small cafe with snacks and drinks. Other activities on the lake include mountain biking, swimming, and horseback riding.

Another incredible stop at the Great Salt Lake is the Bonneville Salt Flats, they are located about 85 miles west of Salt Lake City. To get there, take I-80 West and exit onto SR-30/Bonneville Blvd.

At the salt flats, you can explore the vast expanse of salt crystals and learn about the history of the area. Be sure to bring plenty of water, as it can get quite hot on the flats. End the day by visiting a boat marina on the Great Salt Lake. There are several marinas to choose from, including Great Salt Lake Marina and Lakeside Marina. Both are located within a few miles of Salt Lake City.

We hope this itinerary helps you make the most of your visit to the Great Salt Lake!
