History
The history of Wasatch Mountain State Park dates back to the late 19th century when a group of local citizens began working to preserve the area. In 1957, Utah State Parks was established and Wasatch Mountain State Park was officially designated in 1961. Since then, it has become a popular destination for locals and tourists alike. The park offers access to some of the most spectacular views in the Wasatch Mountains, as well as numerous recreational activities, including camping, fishing and wildlife viewing.
Wildlife
The park is abundant with wildlife and provides a great opportunity for visitors to observe the diverse species that inhabit the area. Elk, deer, foxes and black bears are frequently spotted in the park. Birdwatchers will also enjoy observing some of the more than 200 bird species that have been recorded in Wasatch Mountain State Park.
Geology
Wasatch Mountain State Park in Midway, Utah is located in the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains. The park is home to numerous geological features, including fossils, sedimentary rocks and a variety of volcanic formations. It is also part of the Wasatch Fault Line, which runs through Utah and Idaho.
