Early History
The beginnings of Powder Mountain Ski Resort can be traced back to the early 1900s when a man by the name of Frederick James Cobabe bought the land for skiing. His son, Alvin, later inherited the land and in the late 1960s began developing it into a ski resort. Alvin Cobabe was a passionate skier who wanted to create a destination that would offer some of the best skiing conditions available.
In 1972, Powder Mountain Ski Resort officially opened to the public, and its popularity grew quickly among skiers nationwide. The slopes offered a variety of terrain for all levels of skiers and the surrounding scenery was absolutely breathtaking. The resort also began offering summer activities such as mountain biking, horseback riding, hiking, and fishing.

Ownership Changes
In 1999, Powder Mountain Ski Resort changed hands and the new owners made a major investment into the property. The resort was completely renovated and expanded, offering more ski trails and terrain parks than ever before. In addition to skiing, guests could now enjoy snowshoeing and snowmobiling as well as mountain biking in the summer months.
Since 2007, ownership has changed three more times and in 2013, Summit Series purchased the resort.
