A long and interesting history

Nordic Valley Ski Resort, located in Eden, Utah, is the oldest ski resort in the state of Utah. Established in 1968, it became the first ski resort in the area and was a popular destination for skiers and snowboarders. The original lodge opened with 30 trails and three chair lifts. Over the years, Nordic Valley has grown significantly, expanding to 60 trails, nine chair lifts, and an additional terrain park.

Early History

Nordic Valley Ski Resort was established in 1968 by Arthur Christiansen, who originally bought the land from Taylor Burton in 1960. Christiansen had a vision of creating an up-to-date ski resort in the area, and quickly made his dream a reality. He started construction in 1967, utilizing the natural terrain of the Wasatch Mountain Range to create unique trails for skiers and snowboarders. One year later, Nordic Valley opened its doors for business with 30 trails and three chair lifts.

By the late 1970s, Nordic Valley had become a popular destination for skiing and snowboarding. It was one of the few resorts in Utah that allowed night skiing, drawing in even more visitors during winter months. The terrain park, which opened in 1979, was also an attraction for those looking to practice freestyle maneuvers or build their own jumps.

In the early 2000s, Nordic Valley made several improvements to its infrastructure by adding terrain parks and a larger snow-making system. The resort also opened five more trails and an additional chair lift during this period, making it even more attractive to experienced skiers and snowboarders looking for a great place to ride.
