Monument Valley Itinerary

One Day Itinerary

Here is a one day itinerary for experiencing Monument Valley through the Navajo Nation:

Start your day by visiting the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park visitor center, located on Highway 163 in Monument Valley. Here, you can purchase tickets for the park, get a map of the area, and learn about the history and cultural significance of the park.

Next, take a guided tour of Monument Valley. There are several tour companies that offer guided tours of the park, both by car and on foot. These tours will take you to some of the most iconic viewpoints in the park, as well as provide you with information about the geology, history, and culture of the area. After your tour, take some time to explore the park on your own. There are several marked trails that you can hike, as well as many overlooks and viewpoints that you can drive to. Be sure to bring plenty of water and wear appropriate clothing and shoes for the desert environment.

In the afternoon, consider visiting the nearby town of Kayenta for lunch. There are several restaurants in town that offer traditional Navajo cuisine, as well as other options. After lunch, visit the Navajo Nation Museum and Cultural Center, located in Window Rock, Arizona. This museum features exhibits on the history, culture, and art of the Navajo people, as well as a research library and a gift shop.

End your day by catching the sunset at one of the overlooks in Monument Valley. The park is known for its beautiful sunsets, and there are several overlooks that offer great views of the sunset. I hope this itinerary helps you make the most of your visit to Monument Valley and the Navajo Nation. Enjoy your trip!
