Ashley National Forest is located in northeast Utah and southwest Wyoming and covers 1.3 million acres of pristine wilderness. It is the largest national forest in Utah, stretching from the Uinta Mountains to the Wasatch Plateau. The forest provides an array of outdoor recreational opportunities, including camping, boating, fishing, hunting, hiking and biking. It is also home to a wide variety of wildlife species such as elk, deer, moose and black bears.
Ashley National Forest in Vernal, Utah has four wilderness areas that offer visitors the opportunity to explore some of the most remote and pristine areas in the state: High Uintas, Mount Naomi, Red Castle and Flaming Gorge. Visitors can explore the backcountry via trails that range from easy to strenuous. There are numerous campgrounds located throughout the Forest that offer stunning views of its forests and lakes.
