Weber State University

History

Weber State University (WSU) is a public university located in Ogden, Utah. It was founded in 1889 as
Weber Stake Academy, a two-year school that provided education to students in the local community.
In 1933, the school became Weber College and began offering four-year degrees. It was renamed
Weber State University in 1991.

Over the years, WSU has grown and expanded, adding new academic programs and facilities. Today, it
is known for its strong emphasis on hands-on learning and experiential education, and it has a
reputation for preparing students for successful careers.

WSU has a diverse student body, with students coming from all 50 states and many different countries. In the fall of 2020, there were approximately 28,000 students enrolled at WSU, with about 73% coming from Utah and 27% coming from out of state or abroad.

Weber State has a strong athletics program, with teams competing in the Big Sky Conference of the NCAA Division I. The university fields teams in a variety of sports, including football, basketball, soccer, track and field, and golf. One of the most successful sports programs at WSU is the football team, which has won numerous conference championships and made several appearances in the NCAA Division I Football Championship. The basketball team has also had notable success.
