History

Discover the history of Beaver County, where the first settlers arrived in April 1856 from Parowan. Initially building log cabins along the Beaver River, they began cultivating the land in the surrounding area. By spring of 1858, the first town was established and named after the numerous beaver dams found nearby. Learn about the fascinating origins of this vibrant community.

Back in 1852, an exciting discovery was made at the Lincoln Mine: lead. In 1858, recovery furnaces were erected, and a year later, the town of Minersville was established nearby. An effort was made to create bullets using the mine's ore, but there was a snag - the lead was too tough due to a mysterious component. That component turned out to be silver, which would eventually bring Beaver County great renown.

Today, Beaver County is well-known for its unique and fascinating culture. From the rodeo in July to the annual fair in September, there's something happening every month throughout the year.
